In an exclusive interview with FighTalk.net, trainer and father to Hughie Fury, Peter Fury spoke candidly about rumours regarding the upcoming WBO heavyweight title fight between Joseph Parker and Hughie Fury in Manchester on the 23rd of September being cancelled. Obviously this fight has already had one cancellation when Hughie Fury had to pull out of the proposed fight in Auckland, New Zealand in May with a back injury.
When asked on the rumours of poor ticket sales and the fight being cancelled, Peter Fury told FightTalk.net “I am not really bothered about that. Plus the ticket sales are going very well this far out. People are ordering tickets daily; the count is going up by the day. So we are very happy about everything, Hughie has tremendous support from around the country and it’s fabulous how it’s going.”
Very positive statements from the heavyweight trainer. Considering promoter Eddie Hearn recently told IFL TV “I don’t think they have sold any tickets”.
