Matchroom’s highly-touted Sunderland native Josh Kelly spoke with FightTalk.net following his eye-catching second victory in the paid ranks.
Kelly, now 2-0, 1KO, told us about his signing with manager/trainer Adam Booth and revealed it was his Dad who initially set up the pairing. “It was actually me’ Dad… he sent him a message on Facebook!” Kelly remembers it well, telling us how that resulted in some initial training and then a decision to turn over with the well-revered Booth.
Josh steps out again to headline Matchroom’s NXTGEN card in Newcastle on June 23rd and will face Tom Whitfield in the process. This makes it three opponents all with healthy winning records and Kelly knows his progression will be accelerated should he continue to deliver. “It’s up to Adam really, he sees me in the gym everyday… It’s a bit mad, I’m getting (my name) thrown in with guys at British level haha!”.
