Sam O’Reilly from FightTalk.net grabbed an exclusive, in depth interview with Sky Sports commentator, manager and World Champion trainer, David Coldwell.

David discusses his fighter Lee Appleyard’s shot at the Commonwealth title against Sean ‘Masher’ Dodd on Sky Sports in Liverpool on 22nd April and what he believes is next for Jamie and Gavin McDonnell.

When asked about Tony Bellew and his possible next step, he replied:

“He is getting better and better each camp, his understanding of boxing and situations in the ring is getting better, his performances are getting better, everything is getting better. On that side of things, there is no need to retire at all. The reason I say I would like him to retire is, for me, he has ticked all the boxes and more”

“But I understand completely, when you hear the kind of numbers being spoken about and the opportunity to become World Heavyweight Champion, there’s a temptation there.”
